Dave's PhotoJournal for December 21st

Summary

Flew out to Chicago for Christmas today, and took a bunch of pictures from the plane of what I assume was Washington, Idaho, and Montana, although it's entirely possible that we were further north than that.

For reference, while looking at these pictures, remember that I was sitting on the left side of the plane, and thus, if we were flying straight east, I'd be looking North out of the window.

When I arrived, I met my brother and parents at the airport. We headed over to my uncle Ted's house, where we met him and his girlfriend Dorene. From there, we went to Dave & Buster's, where my uncle Stan's and Ted's company, Zipprich, was having their Christmas party.

Mountains in (I think) North Cascades National Park from the plane.

More of North Cascades National Park (I think).

More of North Cascades National Park (I think).

More of the North Cascades. These may be the central Cascades too. Or, we could be over Canada.

Leaving the first set of mountains, starting over what I think is central/eastern Washington.

Wispy snow surrounding small foothills.

I'm thinking this is the Columbia River.

Closer picture of the river. I'm thinking that could be a dam in the lower right corner?

More mountains, after the flat farmish section. I believe this is either Northeastern Washington, or perhaps Northern Idaho. (Assuming we're still over the US. If not, this could be British Columbia)

It's always interesting to me how they decide which sections of forest to use for logging.

Zoomed out a bit on the big checkerboard of forest.

Wispy clouds bumping up against a range of high peaks.

Looking back over some of the mountains we flew past.

A snowy ridge. Montana?

A large cloud system, stretching off to the Northwest.

When we flew over clouds, you could see this little circular rainbow.

Close in on the little circular rainbow.

Clouds and the horizon.

An isolated ridge of mountains sticking up from dry plains. I think this is over Montana.

The same ridge, but you can see the contrast between the plains and the wooded hills here.

A closeup of the runoff patterns.

Strange little plateaus near the isolated ridge.

Where the little plateaus were in relation to the ridge.

Coming in over Chicago, right after sunset.

My mom, my uncle Ted's girlfriend Dorene, my uncle Ted, and my brother Chris in the parking lot of Dave & Buster's.

Dorene, my uncle Ted, and me.

Playing shuffleboard at Dave & Buster's.

My Aunt Madelyn (who was my teammate) and my cousin Adam on the other end of the shuffleboard.

Me and my Uncle Stan, playing shuffleboard. It was me and my Aunt Madelyn vs my uncle Stan and Adam. We played best 2 out of 3. Madelyn and I won the first and third games. Stan is my Mom's brother, and Madelyn is his wife. Adam is the son of my Mom's brother George and his wife Chris.
