Julie and I were in Whistler for the weekend. We wanted to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather
we were having, hoping to see some good fall color. The original idea was to perhaps finally attempt
the big, long, top-to-bottom trail on Whistler mountain, the Musical Bumps trail, which goes over Singing
Pass. It's supposedly about 13 miles, so it's definitely an all day thing. However, we decided that rather
than being on a mission, we were on a vacation.
So, we spent the first part of the day hanging around Whistler. We walked around the village, the upper village, and on a few of the trails through the lowlands around the town, not in any particular hurry to get anywhere. Later, we decided to take the opportunity to drive around some of the forest roads in the area. I picked out a couple that looked good, but both of them turned out to be blocked off. So we ended up on a long road that shoots off from Highway 99 5 or 10 miles north of Squamish. It follows the Squamish River for awhile, and has some beautiful views. We didn't get anywhere close to exploring the whole thing before it started getting pretty late, so it's definitely somewhere we're going to have to go back to.
